WE ARE COMMITTED TO ENSURING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY. WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR ECOLOGICAL IMPACT IS AS LOW AS POSSIBLE.
What School For Life Does
We have installed solar powered electricity systems across all three schools and in our boarding houses.
We have built composting latrines that ensure low water usage and are easily built and maintained with local materials. The waste produced is turned into compost that can be re-purposed.
We have built bio-gas latrine systems in which the waste is converted in bio-digesters into methane and the gas is then used to power our bunsen burners and stoves.
All three schools have kitchens fitted with eco-stoves that consume less firewood, reducing the need for environmental degradation and deforestation.
We use ISSB bricks that reduce deforestation through the process of pressing and drying rather than firing bricks.
We grow organic produce that is used to support our school feeding and animal husbandry programs.

In 2010, Rachel began as a cleaner at Katuuso Primary and Vocational School. She was working to save money to study to be a teacher at University. Thanks to Barrie and Simone Goldsmith, her dream of studying came true and she is now fully qualified.
