Welcome to the team Julius Barungi, our new Director of Education!
Julius joins us with over twenty years of experience in teaching and school leadership roles at both primary and secondary schools throughout Uganda and Rwanda, including most recently at GEMS Dream Africa Schools, where he excelled in his role as Public Relations Manager and Manager in Charge of Teacher Training.
It was after conducting a series of professional development programs for School for Life’s primary and secondary school teachers in Uganda that Julius first became interested in working for School for Life.
Having worked for organisations with similar visions of empowering learners through quality and affordable education, Julius felt that he had a lot of useful knowledge to share with School for Life to assist the organisation in educating poverty of our existence, and so applied with great success to become our new Director of Education.
In his role, Julius is responsible for the overall leadership and management, high performance, operational efficiency, strategy and administration of School for Life’s education programs.
He is also in charge of managing and providing technical guidance and leadership in the academic and administrative programs of the schools.
It is through this role that Julius hopes to make a contribution to the future education of the region and beyond through training, teaching, mentoring, coaching and nurturing young people and teachers.
Julius tells us that he is very excited to “be a part of the team that can make a contribution to educating poverty out of existence and empowering the local communities to eventually become self-sustaining through quality and skill based education, that will enable social and economic impact in their lives.”
We are thrilled to welcome Julius onto our team and are sure he will prove vital to enabling the success of our schools and communities.
