Let’s get to know Charlotte, our new Country Director at School for Life

Please give a big welcome to the organisation's new Country Director, Charlotte Oloya!

Charlotte is joining us at School for Life with an impressive 14-years experience in law. She is extremely passionate about serving vulnerable and underserved communities in Uganda and is using her personal and professional experience to continue to do so. Her career has been focused in the not-for-profit sector where she has fought human rights issues such as access to quality education, justice, mental health services and freedom from torture.

Aside from her passion for serving underprivileged communities, she loves reading, or as she so eloquently describes it, is an “ardent reader” and believes that it is her superpower. In addition, she also loves listening to podcasts.

Raised in a large household, Charlotte is the seventh of eight children and is proudly the youngest girl in her family.

Charlotte became interested in the School for Life Foundation after reading the Foundation's vision and mission, of which she felt resonated with her desire to serve the disadvantaged communities she is so passionate about.

She told us she is inspired by the opportunities the organisation brings to the students and staff it supports, “With the right amount of support and encouragement, anybody can do anything and become anything that they dream of being. Working with School for Life puts me in a position to stack the odds in favour of children and communities who, but for the enormous support from our donors and team, would be left behind.”

As School for Life’s Country Director, Charlotte will be responsible for giving strategic leadership and oversight over the operations of SFL in Uganda.

Her favourite thing she has done so far at SFL was meeting the students’ parents and the rest of the community at SFL’s Katuuso and Mbazzi Riverside Campuses. She thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the hopes, dreams and fears the parents had for their children and also sharing her own dreams for the future.

Once again, please welcome Charlotte. We are thrilled to have her on board and know her impressive skills and experience will be invaluable to our team!
